PRINCETON — The 2020 Homestead Festival event has been canceled.
The Homestead Committee met this week to make its final decision and announced it on its website and Facebook page Friday morning.
“It is with great regret and sadness we must announce the cancellation of this year’s Bureau County Homestead Festival,” the announcement stated.
“We have been holding on to every bit of hope we could proceed with our annual end of the summer event, but after much forethought, we decided continuing with the celebration as planned would unnecessarily risk both our community and those attending this year’s festival.”
Plans for next year’s Homestead Festival are now underway. Next year’s celebration is already on the calendar for the weekend of Sept. 10-12, 2021. It will mark the 50th anniversary of the festival and the Homestead Committee said in its announcement it will return “bigger and better than ever.”
As for 50/50 ticket sales, they will continue this year and the drawing will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 13. The winner will be announced on the Homestead Festival website, as well as the Homestead Festival Facebook page. All proceeds will benefit the 50th anniversary celebration next year.
