IHSA postseason picture painted

The IHSA has announced its postseason assignments for its fall sports that are being contested this year.

Initially limited to regional advancement only, sectional competition was just approved last week by the IHSA for boys and girls golf and boys and girls cross country.

Girls tennis, which has no regional competition, will participate in sectionals as normal.

Sectional golf tournaments will be held the week of Oct. 12-17.  The location for sectional golf tournaments will be announced no later than Oct. 1.

The top two teams and the top four individuals from each regional golf tournament will advance to its respective sectional tournament. Any player who ties for the fourth individual qualifying spot from a regional tournament will advance to the his/her respective sectional tournament.

Modifications have been made to the number of sectional qualifying teams in cross country, also.

There is no state competition planned presently in any fall sport due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Football and volleyball have been moved to next spring.
