The IHSA has announced its postseason assignments for its fall sports that are being contested this year.
Initially limited to regional advancement only, sectional competition was just approved last week by the IHSA for boys and girls golf and boys and girls cross country.
Girls tennis, which has no regional competition, will participate in sectionals as normal.
Sectional golf tournaments will be held the week of Oct. 12-17. The location for sectional golf tournaments will be announced no later than Oct. 1.
The top two teams and the top four individuals from each regional golf tournament will advance to its respective sectional tournament. Any player who ties for the fourth individual qualifying spot from a regional tournament will advance to the his/her respective sectional tournament.
Modifications have been made to the number of sectional qualifying teams in cross country, also.
There is no state competition planned presently in any fall sport due to COVID-19 restrictions.
Football and volleyball have been moved to next spring.
Boys golf: St. Bede will host a 1A boys golf regional at Spring Creek, including Hall and Putnam County on Tuesday, Oct. 6.
Bureau Valley and Amboy-LaMoille head north to the Oregon Regional at Silver Ridge Golf Course in Oregon on Oct. 6 in a field including five TRAC opponents.
In 2A, the Princeton boys have been sent to Sterling for regional play at Emerald Hill Golf Course in Sterling on Oct. 6 along with L-P and Mendota.
Girls golf: Bureau Valley and Princeton will play out of the Oregon Regional at Silver Ridge on Wednesday, Oct. 7.
The girls from St. Bede and Hall will play out of the Sandwich Regional at Edgebrook Golf Course in Sandwich on Oct. 7.
Girls tennis: Princeton and St. Bede will be joined by L-P and Mendota at the Ottawa Sectional on Friday, Oct. 16.
Cross country: St. Bede will host a Class 1A boys and girls cross country regional on Saturday, Oct. 24. Local schools participating will be Amboy-LaMoille-Ohio, Henry, Mendota, Putnam County, Princeton and St. Bede.
Bureau Valley will run in the Rock Island Alleman Regional along with Annawan-Wethersfield on Oct. 24.
Seneca will host the 1A sectional on Friday, Oct. 30.
PHS harriers on hold
Princeton High School has announced, after consulting with the Bureau County Health Department, it has suspended Boys Cross Country activities through Friday, Oct. 2, due to COVID-19 positive test results.
