Bureau, Putnam, Marshall County Health Department has reported the first COVID-19-related death in Marshall County. The individual was a female in her 90’s.

It is the 17th COVID-19-related death in the Bureau, Putnam and Marshall County region.

“On behalf of the entire staff at the Bureau, Putnam and Marshall County Health Departments, I extend our deepest sympathy to the family of this victim of COVID-19.” Said Hector Gomez, administrator of the BPMCHD.

Gomez reminds community members to take the simple steps needed to slow the spread of COVID-19 in our communities.

“The primary way we can reduce the number of COVID-19-related deaths is to slow the spread of this virus until effective medical approaches to it can be developed and deployed. We can do that if everyone will just accept a little temporary inconvenience.”

BPMCHD reported 11 new COVID cases for Bureau County and three for Putnam County on Friday, Oct. 9.

In other news, Putnam County was removed from the COVID-19 warning level after being listed for two consecutive weeks. Currently, Bureau, Putnam and Marshall counties are out of the state’s warning level.

Since mid-March, there have been 812 reported cases of COVID-19 in Bureau County; 77 in Putnam County and 123 in Marshall County.
