Junior high track
Logan Junior High School qualified 16 athletes for the IESA 2A State Track Meet from the Sterling Sectional last week, led by a sectional championship by its seventh-grade boys.
In other team finishes, the seventh-grade girls placed second, the eighth-grade boys placed third and the eighth-grade girls placed fourth.
Results for the seventh-grade girls are: Miyah Fox (100/200 3rd; hurdles, 1st), Alexis Henkins (400 5th, HJ 2nd); Morgan Richards (shot/discus 1st) Morgan Foes (shot 6th, discus 2nd), and the 4x100 relay of Fox, Olivia Longeville, Sophia Oester and McKenna Leslie, first.
Seventh-grade boys: Evan Driscoll (100 3rd, 200 2nd), Carter Saletzki (200 6th), James Jaggers (400 5th), Ashton Bland (400 6th), Carlos Benavidez (hurdles 4th), Carter Saletzki (LJ 2nd), Andrew Peacock (LJ 3rd), Payne Miller (shot/discus 1st), Bennett Williams (shot 2nd, discus 3rd), 4x100 relay of Noah Baker, Andrew Peacock, Evan Driscoll and Daniel Sousa (4th); the 4x200 relay of Preston Arkels, James Jaggers, Bennett Williams, James Starkey (3rd) and the 4x400 relay of Hayden Larson, James Jaggers, James Starkey and Daniel Sousa (6th)
Eighth-grade boys: CJ Hickey (100 3rd, LJ 4th), Christian Yepsen (400 6th), Christopher Ossola (1600 6th), Carson Etheridge (hurdles 2nd), Brady Byers (HJ, 2nd), Teegan Davis (LJ 2nd, HJ 4th), the 4x100 relay of Etheridge, Byers, Davis and Hickey (2nd) and the 4x200 relay of Niklas Schneider, Robert Nelson, Cole Bader and Yepsen (6th).
Eighth-grade girls: Mariah Hobson (100/LJ 2nd), Isa Ibarra (200 6th, hurdles 1st), Emma Kruse-Carter (discus 4th) and the 4x100 relay of Hobson, Kruse-Carter, Ibarra and Kat Jackson (1st).
SRC champs: Logan also swept both seventh-grade championships in the Starved Rock Conference with the eighth-grade girls also taking first.
Seventh-grade champions were Georgie Fulton (1600), Fox (100, 200, hurdles), Richards (shot), Foes (discus), Leslie (HJ) and the 4x100 and 4x200 relays for the girls, and Driscoll (100), Jonathon Aley (800, 1600), Miller (shot, discus) and Andrew Peacock (HJ) for the boys.
Eighth-grade champions were Ibarra (hurdles, 200), Carter (discus) and the 4x100 relay for the girls and Etheridge (hurdles) and the 4x400 relay for the boys.
